Cavalier Francesco Iannamico de: "Monzù", this name was given in ancient times to professional chefs who served in the noble families of Bourbon Naples. The onomastic element still today identifies the Iannamico family in the village context.
In his small company, in the Abruzzo hills, Francesco worked assiduously for the preparation of an extraordinary product that would soon fascinate the whole continent with its quality and taste.

They were times when the old nineteenth-century world was setting with its romanticism while scientific discoveries, new technologies, new ideas and revolutionary ferments guided Europe on the path of a profound change.

It was in 1888 at Villa Santa Maria that Francesco developed the formula of the Punch of Abruzzo Iannamico and dell'Amaro d'Abruzzo, liqueurs that soon would have crossed the Italian borders to amaze the refined Parisian bourgeois, to amaze the Viennese aristocrats and to make to shout the serious Turinese from the miracle.

Iannamico products received important honors: the gold medal at the International Exhibition in Paris; a great diploma of honor at the Turin Fair and other awards in Nice, Rome and Milan.
Declared out of competition at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900 with the Great Mention of Honor, the Cav. francesco Iannamico was appointed Member of the Jury.

From that moment, Villa Santa Maria was also appreciated for the Iannamico liqueurs as well as for the prestigious cooking school of Villa Santa Maria: "Istituto Alberghiero G. Marchitelli", then appreciated by the royal courts of the whole world, today an icon of world cuisine.

The Iannamico Company preserves the same passion of its founder, in the search for quality, in the love for the unmistakable taste and aroma of its liqueurs.

In 2011 the Chamber of Commerce of Chieti celebrates the 125 years of activity of the firm Iannamico liquori of Villa Santa Maria with the registration in the Historical Business Register of the Province of Chieti.
